AURORA
November 2015
MATTER design team was tasked to define an "ownable" value proposition for premium home audio. This product category is evolving and taking on new roles beyond simply playing audio.
For this particular portion of the project, we conceptualized ID and UI/UX directions for a light-speaker hybrid, from sketch ideation all the way to a final, functional product engineered by MindTribe. Upfront, I contributed immensely to generating ideas, presentations communicating the product use and value, as well as creating all the final CAD/CMF documents for Model Making and Engineering.

In an evolving Home Audio product category, Aurora adds ambiance and expression to interiors by interactively merging light and sound together.
The Aurora industrial design expresses Samsung’s “Ring Radiator” technology. A rich 360° audio feature that was relevant at the time.
An essential interaction point lies in the touch strip, where you adjust white light levels, custom color gradients, and personalized audio stations
Design intent was inspired by the idea of, like liquid, filling a vessel with light. The light levels follow your finger, providing a pleasantly intuitive, fun interaction.
