Control modules
July 2020
The control module family is a solution for buildings operating over wired legacy systems, enabling the ability to integrate Simple Things with an older alarm system and more. Each module has distinct use cases contributing to a simplified, organized UX, for a highly technical, specialized building security option.
Sub-team collaborators: Kevin Hoffman, Andy Rubin, Chris Coley, Farzin Dehmoubed, Dan Lee, Larry Davis.
Input Module
Connect up to 16 zones for a wide range of sensors including: contact sensors, smoke detectors, motion sensors, glass break detectors, heat detectors, water detectors, etc.
Access Module
Add wireless control and intelligence towards 2 wired doors/locks, and 2 access control readers.
Output Module
Connect up to 8 zones as a way to open or close a circuit, adding intelligence to systems like irrigation, lighting, electronic doors, gates, alarm sirens, and more.
The Control Module Industrial Design gesture is rooted in a utilitarian UX, celebrating technical labeling, adaptable pluggable wired connections, and a robust screw down mounting method (a valuable feature considering the weight a module may undergo when the user connects many wires)
