Obe pet bowl

Hillary Jensen, dog lover and founder of Obe, approached MATTER to design an intelligent pet bowl in advance of a Kickstarter launch.
Under Hoang Nguyen's creative direction, I contributed industrial design work from sketch ideation, prototyping, and CAD modeling for the dog bowl and smart base. For phase 2 of the project, I became design lead, designing the cat bowl and creating final assets for handoff to engineering for manufacturing.

Obe is an intelligent cat and dog food bowl that helps pets maintain a healthy weight. It connects via Wi-Fi to a smartphone app, allowing pet owners to monitor or adjust their dog’s eating habits over time.
The hardware consists of two parts: A copper, radial brushed metal base that measures data and connects to the users devices, and a modular, washable bowl available in different sizes.
The different sized bowls are considered forms, justifying their place when together and communicating that they work with each-other.
